We rent, which means there is a fine line between the amount of work and investment we want to put into our yard and how frowzy we are willing to let it get. Our landlord, unfortunately, has no qualms about the latter, and aside from an occasional mowing we are generally on our own.
Luckily, my family enjoys a good project and working with our hands?meaning we hardly had to bribe the kids at all. It?s that fun!
We decided that something we could do together, and for very little money, was to build some mounted flower beds on the end of the house and fill the patch of dirt and weeds that pass as desert chic with a sustainable garden and/or salad bar for the many rabbits currently residing in the area.
However, a lingering winter and a cool spring coupled with busy schedules and another excuse for laziness kept us from maintaining the property as well as we should have, and in our absence the wildlife has flourished. Also, grime. The place is filthy, and before we can build it up we need to wash it down. Hence my looking for outdoor power equipment, specifically a hot water pressure washer at my local Home Depot?apparently a pressure washer hose packs more punch than the garden variety we have curled up in the corner (possible exceptions include top photo). Who knew?
This just in, Home Depot does not mess around when it comes to outdoor power. For instance, the DEWALT Pro Pressure Washers (4,200 psi pictured) look like they could really leave a mark? I mean clean really well!
Step one of project ?Pretty It Up? is looking for a pressure washer rental (or something affordable enough to buy). Step two is making it happen. Stay tuned, true believers, and #DigIn!
